The aims and objectives of the Society are to advance the art, science, and practice of surgery for the treatment of cancer in animals and people, and to disseminate knowledge to help provide the highest possible standard of surgical treatment for cancer.
Membership
The Society is composed of veterinarians with a special interest in surgical oncology. Membership categories are:
Full Membership - this is open to any veterinarian regardless of training or speciality. Active membership is dependent on payment of annual dues ($125).
Trainee Membership - this is open to any veterinarian in a training program such as internship, residency, fellowship or PhD program. Membership is free for the duration of the training program.
Honorary Membership - historically, several prominent surgical oncologists in the field were awarded honorary memberships at the inception of the VSSO. Honorary Members are exempt from paying dues. This category no longer is open to new joining.
